Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing or using Translation Bot ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these terms.
2. Description of Service
Translation Bot is a Slack integration that automatically translates messages between languages using AI-powered translation. The Service:
- Automatically translates non-English messages to English
- Translates messages to specific languages via flag emoji reactions
- Supports per-channel translation context for improved accuracy
3. Data Processing
To provide the translation service, message content must pass through our server to reach the AI translation API. Key points:
- Message content is never stored. Text is processed in memory and immediately discarded after the translation is delivered back to Slack.
- No logs of message content are kept. We do not log, record, or retain the text of your messages or their translations.
- Third-party processing. Message text is sent to Google Gemini API for translation. Google's terms of service and privacy policy apply to their processing.
- Minimal persistent storage. We only store OAuth tokens (for authentication) and optional translation context (set by users). See our Privacy Policy for full details.
4. Your Responsibilities
- You are responsible for complying with your organization's policies regarding the use of third-party integrations and AI services.
- Do not use the Service to translate content that violates applicable laws or Slack's terms of service.
- You are responsible for managing translation context added via @mention — including removing any sensitive information that may have been added inadvertently.
5. Service Availability
- The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
- We do not guarantee 100% uptime or translation accuracy. AI translations may contain errors.
- We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time with reasonable notice.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Translation Bot and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to translation errors, service interruptions, or data loss.
7. Data Deletion
You can remove all data associated with your workspace at any time by:
- Uninstalling Translation Bot from your Slack workspace (removes OAuth tokens)
- Using
@TranslationBot clear context in each channel (removes translation context)
You may also contact us to request complete data deletion.
8. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
